Calm Before the
Storm
by Cyberwulfe
It was a bright sunny afternoon in the city of Teneb, on the planet My'krr. The marketplace bustled with people, each with their own errands to run. Things to buy, sell... social gatherings. It was the highlight of the day, and the busiest part of town. Amongst the crowds of people, no one noticed the tiny specks of light approaching from space. Tiny specks that quickly grew into bright flashes, until they had softly landed several blocks from the center of the marketplace.
Those who saw were shocked. Four humanoid aliens had just landed. Each wore black, skintight suits with white armour in various places, protecting their torsos, shins, and elbows. Each was a deep green in colour, except the fourth, which was larger than the others and had a bluish hue to his gray skin. He scanned the street slowly and nodded to the alien on his left. With an evil grin, the alien nodded back, and the four of them began walking towards the crowd.
People left the street quickly as the aliens approached. The crowd broke up and parted to let the strangers through. The blue-skinned alien stopped and took a ripe fruit from one of the stands and began to eat it.
"Hey! You gonna pay for that?!" said a squat, frog-like creature, shaking his webbed fingers at him.
The alien made no reply. He simply raised his hand and shot a small beam of energy at the frog, which sent it crashing against a nearby building. It slumped to the floor, dead. Blood oozing from its head orifices. Shocked, the crowd panicked and started to run away, but they were stuck in the crowded marketplace. Before those on the outside of the crowd could understand why to escape, one of the other green-skinned aliens raised a hand to the sky and called forth a massive energy wave. In a split second, everything within a one-hundred meter radius was vaporized in a huge fiery explosion. Everything except himself and his teammates.
The aliens chuckled. Their search for the Black Star Dragon Balls was going well. Having searched for the past three weeks, they discovered that one of them was on My'krr. They were called Storm, a vicious team of mercenaries with incredible powers. Their leader, named Storm, wanted to wish for eternal life for his team, so they would never be defeated in battle. His henchmen, Wind, Thunder, and Lightning, were all strong, but Storm was the strongest of all of them. Having lived five-hundred years, Storm had trained hard and was very powerful.
"Spread out. Use your scanners and tell me when you've located that Dragon Ball," ordered Storm.
"Yes sir!" replied Thunder.
Suddenly Lightning's hand-held scanner began beeping, a red light flashed on the device," Sir! I'm detecting a second Dragon Ball... and it's approaching!"
"Approaching?" asked Storm.
"Yes sir. From outer space. Someone else must be searching for the Dragon Balls as well."
"Well. What do you say we give them a proper greeting?"
The team chuckled again. They loved to fight, and had never met anyone who could defeat them in battle. The Storm team exploded with energy and flew off toward the approaching Dragon Ball.
On board the starship Always, the Lupine named Cyberwulfe watched the green landscape unfold before him. His friend and companion, Ozymandis, sat in the copilot's chair, admiring the beautiful planet.
"Not unlike Earth, is it Cyb?" commented Ozy.
"Yeah. Nice place to find a Dragon Ball," replied Cyberwulfe. He looked back towards the main hold, where their first Dragon Ball was kept.
Cyberwulfe had hoped to revive his trainer, a wolf named RazorWolf, who had been killed in outer space while on a quest for the Black Star Dragon Balls. Cyberwulfe and Ozymandis were on a mission to retrieve all the Dragon Balls and wish Razor back to life.
"Landing sequence, please," Cyber said.
Ozy reached up and flipped a green switch. The retrorockets fired up as the landing gear opened from their compartments. The ship shuddered gently as it settled in the middle of a grassy field. Cyberwulfe smiled. He was one step away from the second Dragon Ball; one step closer to getting RazorWolf back. He was very excited and wanted to get going immediately.
"I'm going to the nearest town to get some supplies. Why don't you gather up the scanners and meet me there in an hour?" said Cyber.
"Sure," replied Ozy.
Although the scouter Cyberwulfe had, a device used to scan people for their fighting powers, had been modified to locate the Dragon Balls, the scanners he had could more easily pinpoint the exact location, within five feet of the Dragon Ball. Cyberwulfe emerged from the ship, waved goodbye to Ozymandis, and soared into the sky. He felt the wind in his black hair, rippling his gray fur and pulling at his clothing. Cyberwulfe rarely wore shirts, preferring to wear khaki pants, but occasionally wore shirts, and even armoured vests.
Cyberwulfe switched his scouter off, not thinking he'd need it on such a peaceful agricultural world as My'krr. Wherever the Dragon Ball was, he'd find it. With the thought of finding the Dragon Balls fresh in his mind again, Cyberwulfe burst forward, his body shooting through the air like a comet.
We'll get you back soon, Razor! he thought.
"Sir! I am detecting something else," said Lightning, suddenly stopping in mid-flight.
"What is it?" asked Storm. The entire team stopped and gathered around Lightning's scanner.
"It's a power level... very weak, but it's moving at an incredible speed. Faster than any My'krr land vehicles."
"Perhaps the ship has launched out a scouting team? Wind, I want you to intercept while we continue to the ship," ordered Storm.
"Yes sir," replied Wind.
He hadn't fought in a long time and was eager to flex his muscles.
He soared towards the power level, having adjusted his own
scanner to follow it, as the rest of the team flew off towards
the ship.
Cyberwulfe was a fighter from the planet Canis. Over the years, he had trained under many strong fighters, each time increasing his fighting power more and more. Not only did his power increase, but also his speed and durability, able to withstand powerful enemy attacks.. Training with RazorWolf had done Cyber a lot of good, and his fighting power was an even ten-million. His partner, Ozymandis, was strong as well, with a fighting power of one-million five-hundred thousand.
Among his many talents and attacks was the ability to detect power levels without a scouter or scanner of any kind, and he detected Wind long before he saw him. Stopping in mid-flight, Cyberwulfe waited for the alien to meet him. Wind hovered twenty feet from Cyber, eyeing up the smaller alien. Cyber's tail and hair blew in the wind.
"Who are you?" asked Cyberwulfe," State your business here."
"Well. Aren't you the bossy one. You're asking a little too much, but I'll give in," chuckled Wind," I am WIND, of the Storm mercenary team. We're here to find the Dragon Balls... I hope you don't mind if we borrow the one on your ship?"
"Yeah I mind. It's mine, and you can't have it. Now if you excuse me, I'm off to town."
"It's gone. We just destroyed it and killed over a thousand people," Wind laughed, which irritated Cyberwulfe. He only attacked when in self-defense, or defending others. Anger charged up within Cyberwulfe.
"How could you? What did they do to you?"
"Nothing. Nothing at all. That's what made it so fun." Wind laughed again, making Cyberwulfe even more angry," Aww, what's wrong. You gonna fight? Ha ha ha ha!"
But before Wind could blink, Cyberwulfe had charged at him and slammed him to the ground. Wind rolled away and leapt to his feet," Well... I guess you do want to fight."
"To avenge those people... I'll deal with your friends later."
"Ha ha ha!!! You think so? You haven't finished with me yet," Wind held up his scanner," And judging by your power level, this'll be a short fight."
"Yeah... for you..." Cyberwulfe grinned, then clenched his fists. Power surged through him and he began to charge up, flames shooting out of his body as the power increased, venting from his pores.
"What? What are you doing!" cried Wind in disbelief. The level on his scanner was already jumping past five-hundred thousand, from a minimal level of twenty only seconds earlier," Stop that! Stoppit I say!"
Cyberwulfe only grinned more and increased the intensity of the energy flowing from his body, sending earthquakes through the ground, shaking bits of rocks loose and sending them hovering into the air. Wind stared in disbelief as Cyberwulfe's power level shot past his own, almost reaching one-million.
"Okay... okay, let's work a deal here," stammered Wind.
"No deals," said Cyberwulfe. He stopped charging and stood, glowing a radiant blue," Now you die."
He began to walk slowly towards Wind. Wind's mouth hung open and he slowly lost his grip on his scanner. It fell to the ground. He began to back away from the approaching fighter. As Cyberwulfe approached, he crushed the scanner under his foot and grabbed Wind by the neck," I'm going to make you pay for what you did. Enjoy your stay in the next dimension."
And with that he placed two fingers to Wind's chest, right where his heart was," Beam Cannon," Cyber said calmly.
In a flash, a solid beam of energy, lined with rings of purple fire, shot through Wind's armour and out his back, flying on for miles before it dissipated. Wind gasped as the energy pierced his body, blood trickled out his mouth and poured out of the gaping wound in his chest. Cyberwulfe let go and watched the alien go limp and fall to the ground.
Cyberwulfe sighed and stopped glowing. He scanned himself with his scouter, a special feature that was custom-built by RazorWolf. Most scouters could only scan outwards to other sources of energy. RazorWolf's scouter allowed Cyber to scan himself. He had killed Wind with a fighting power just below one-million two-hundred.
"If he was cocky about the rest of his team, Cyber said to himself," That means Ozy is gonna have his hands full!"
Cyberwulfe exploded and surged towards the ship. The Storm mercenary team were close, almost at the ship. And he'd have to hurry to stop them.
"WHAT?" shouted Storm.
"Wind's power level just disappeared. And the last thing I saw before it did was a fluctuation of energy as high as one-point-two million. Wind's dead, sir," replied Lightning.
"Whoever it is out there is strong, but if that's the best he can do then you're all more than a match for him," Storm ordered. He was furious at losing one of his members, and wanted that person to pay," I'll meet you at the ship after you have disposed of him."
"Yes sir!" replied the others.
Ozymandis was just adjusting the scanners when one of them started beeping," What the...?" he said.
He walked to the scanner and saw that it was registering a high power level. It started rising... one-million... still rising... then the power level jumped to one-million one-hundred sixty. A few moments later it dropped below two-hundred thousand and almost disappeared.
"Cyberwulfe..." said Ozy, thinking that his friend was in trouble. The scanners could wait.
He ran into the ship and put on his gray armoured vest and tunic. Thinking clothes pointless, the lupine-dragon always walked around naked, but in the case that Cyberwulfe would have to charge that high to fight someone Ozy wasn't going to take any chances. The armour was designed by RazorWolf himself, and could take a direct hit at two-million, so Ozy had a little extra protection.
He emerged from the ship and spread his wings, ready to take off. Just as he did, a voice called to him from behind.
"Going somewhere, friend?"
Ozymandis whirled around to see a large, bluish-gray skinned alien facing him from the nose of the ship. The alien wore armour similar to his own, but with a few modifications and alternate armour placement. Ozy could feel the power emanating from this alien. He was definitely strong. Stronger than himself. He just hoped that Cyberwulfe was on his way.
"Yes, in fact I was just off to the market. I need some eggs," said Ozy, hoping to stall the alien as long as possible.
"Well, let me save you the trouble and say that the market is closed, permanently," the alien grinned," But where are my manners. I am Storm, leader of the Storm mercenary team, and you have something inside my ship that I want."
"And what might that be?" asked Ozy.
"The Dragon Ball."
"Well you can't have it. The person who owns it is not here. You'll have to wait until he gets back."
"Oh I very much doubt he'll be coming back. My two teammates are on their way to kill him, so you might as well cough up the Dragon Ball before I have to come over there and mess up your face."
"You can try, but I think Cyberwulfe will be here sooner than you think."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. So get ready, because if you want a fight you're going to get one."
Cyberwulfe ducked the energy blast fired from Lightning and locked arms with the alien. Thunder approached from below, but Cyber swung out of the way and kicked him in the back, sending him crashing into a rock. Lightning began throwing punches, all of which were blocked by Cyberwulfe. Cyber kicked at Lightning, who grabbed his leg and threw him to the ground. Thunder joined his companion and landed his elbow square into Cyber's stomach. Cyberwulfe gasped for air as the two aliens pummeled him.
Suddenly he gritted his teeth and screamed out loud. He exploded with power and sent the two aliens flying in opposite directions. They landed on their feet and stood facing the lupine warrior as he stood up. He wiped the blood from his face and stared back at them. They both shot back towards him. Cyberwulfe crouched in a defensive stance and took the attacks full-on. Punches, kicks, blocking, hitting, drawing blood. Cyberwulfe made a few good hits on each of the aliens, but after a minute he was once again laying on the ground. He got up and sat crouching, glaring at the two aliens, who simply laughed out loud.
"Give up. You can't beat us!" called Thunder," We've got you outmatched, pal!"
"On the contrary," said Cyberwulfe, reaching for his scouter. He had been ambushed quickly by the two aliens, and didn't have a chance to scan them. Lightning registered at three-million, and Thunder was sitting at five. Cyber decided it was time to show them how powerful he really was.
He crouched closer to the ground and began charging up, watching the expressions of the two aliens as his power level rose. Keeping an eye on his own power using his scouter, Cyber erupted with energy, sending flames shooting everywhere. His fur shimmered brightly, waves of energy rippling from his body. The ground shook and bits of rocks and debris flew everywhere. Clouds of dust lifted from the ground. Thunder and Lightning looked on in amazement as Cyberwulfe approached their own fighting powers, first passing Lightning's, then resting below Thunder's by five-hundred points.
"Aww, too bad. You almost did it, chum," chuckled Thunder," You're not quite strong enough to beat us, although we're impressed by your power."
"Who's impressed?" Lightning whispered to Thunder," I'm petrified!"
"Let me fight him then," Thunder whispered back.
"Quick gabbing and let's get going," Cyberwulfe grunted. He wouldn't let them get the best of him.
"Have it your way..." Thunder charged towards Cyberwulfe, launching his fists at him in a mad fury.
Cyberwulfe blocked the attacks while trying to squeeze in some of his own as well. He landed a quick punch to Thunder's jaw, just as the other kicked him in the face, then followed up with a devastating blow to the back of Cyber's head. Cyberwulfe flew through the air. Thunder rushed past him and positioned himself in Cyberwulfe's path. He balled his fists and pounded Cyber from behind, sending him crashing to the ground.
Cyberwulfe rose slowly, his khakis starting to feel the brunt of the attacks, tearing a bit at the seams. His shirt was already half ripped off and hung loosely from his shoulder. Cyber spat out some blood and stood facing Thunder, who still hovered above him," Ha ha ha! Is that it?"
Cyberwulfe flew up through the air and faked a punch at Thunder. As the alien tried to block it, Cyberwulfe disappeared," Where did he go?" said Thunder, looking around.
"Behind you!" said Cyberwulfe, who suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He kicked Thunder in the side, then pounded the back of his head with his elbow. Thunder choked and fell to the ground.
Cyberwulfe followed him, landing a kick square in Thunder's back, sending him crashing to the ground. The lupine fighter grinned, charging up an energy attack. His fists turned bright red, and then he pointed them at the limp fighter on the ground. Stretching out, Cyberwulfe fired a bright red beam of energy at Thunder. It collided with Thunder and tore his armour to shreds. Thunder grunted under the brunt of the attack, but just barely managed to fire back a beam of his own. The two beams fought for power, until Cyberwulfe's was defeated, and soared past him.
"Still weaker, huh?" said Thunder, shaking off some of the loose armour as he stood up," You have some good moves there, but not good enough to beat me."
"Come on, Thunder! Kick his ass!" Lightning egged his partner on from the sidelines.
"I see I must show you more of my power to defeat you scum," said Cyberwulfe.
"More... more of your power?" asked Thunder.
Before he could answer, Cyberwulfe screamed and charged even higher. Thunder was blinded for a moment, but the last thing he saw was his scanner register a fighting power of six-million. It was also the last thing he ever saw. Cyberwulfe created two small balls of energy and threw them at Thunder. They crashed into the fighter, disintegrating him.
"Oh crap! I'm getting out of here!" screamed Lightning. He took off and started to fly away, but Cyberwulfe shot an energy disk at him and cut the alien in half.
"Now, to my ship," said Cyberwulfe.
Ozymandis glared at Storm. The big alien was stronger than he thought. Ozy felt he was at a serious disadvantage, and hoped Cyberwulfe on his way. Perhaps he was strong enough to help defeat Storm.
"You are pathetic indeed. Where did you get such a lousy fighting power?" laughed Storm.
"Just you wait until Cyberwulfe gets here. Then you'll see a fighting power."
"Indeed. By now my partners will be returning with his carcass."
Storm initiated another attack at Ozy, who just dodged it in time. He swung his tail at Storm and caught him across the face, knocking him sideways. Ozy then grabbed Storm's arm and threw the alien into the side of a cliff, several dozen meters away. Storm emerged from the rubble without a single scratch on his fine shiny armour. Ozymandis stood in disbelief. Not even a mark on the alien's face. The blade at the end of his tail should have split his skull like a melon.
"Well, you almost made me twitch. Now I will show you what a real attack is like," said Storm.
Storm disappeared and suddenly appeared behind Ozymandis. He swung his muscular arm and crashed into the side of Ozy's face, sending the dragon flying through the air. Storm didn't stop there. He appeared behind Ozy and grabbed him in a powerful bear hug, squeezing tightly.
"Now... I'm going to squeeze the life out of you," Storm laughed again, squeezing harder.
"Arrgghhh!!!" Ozy screamed, the pain rushing through his body as he felt himself being crushed inside his armour. His arm felt as if it were about to break. He struggled with all his might, but Storm held him firm. Ozy didn't see any way out, unless he could get one of his arms free. He struggled with his right arm, moving it less than an inch... but he thought it was enough.
Ozymandis threw his right elbow backwards into Storm's gut. Storm gasped for a second, but then caught his breath. Ozy hit him again, and again, sending ten hard thrusts into Storm's abdomen. Storm's grasp loosened, and Ozy took this opportunity to escape. He grabbed Storm's left arm and body-slammed him into the ground, then again, and threw him to the ground. Storm lay there for several moments, gasping for breath before finally standing up and facing Ozymandis.
"Very good. You're better than I expected. But I'm afraid it's time to finish you," Storm said, a bit of irritation in his voice. He'd not expected Ozy to do so well against him.
Storm rushed at Ozy and knocked him down with a single punch. He was moving so quickly now that Ozy couldn't even see his actions, only feel the results of them. It took only seconds, then Ozy crumpled into a heap on the ground. He'd been beaten.
"It's a shame to kill you, especially since I could use someone with your power to replace Wind. But I still have my other men. Now DIE!" screamed Storm. He raised his arm, glowing flames erupting from it, ready to finish Ozymandis.
Suddenly, a bright flash of light shot past Ozymandis, and Storm was sent hurdling through the air, smashing into the side of the space ship. He groaned and fell down, grabbing his stomach. Ozy opened his eyes and blinked back the red haze he saw. Once his vision was clear he saw his friend Cyberwulfe looking down at him.
"Cyber. You came," Ozy smiled weakly.
"Yeah. I had something to take care of. Sorry I'm so late," Cyberwulfe said, suddenly turning his gaze towards Storm, who was recovering from the blow," Why don't you sit this one out?"
"Sure," Ozy began to slowly get up, and then stood behind Cyberwulfe, holding his side.
Cyberwulfe approached Storm and stood several feet away, scanning the alien with his scouter. It registered eight-million. Ozymandis never stood a chance. He could also sense that this was the last fighter on the planet with such a high power level, and a quick look around with his scouter proved that.
"Well well well," said Storm, checking out Cyberwulfe with his scanner," It looks like the big power level just arrived. Tell me, how did you get past my men?"
"I killed them," Cyberwulfe replied bluntly.
"What?! Those are the greatest fighters in this part of the galaxy! You couldn't have wasted them so easily!"
"Who said it was easy?" said Cyberwulfe, rubbing his bleeding mouth.
"Well, if you think you stand much of a chance against me you're wrong. I am too strong for you. Your pathetic friend couldn't even handle my powers."
"He'll live. You will not. Now shut up and let's get this over with."
"Very well. If you insist on dying."
Storm approached Cyberwulfe, who stood there staring at the huge alien. Storm was a good eight feet tall, and Cyberwulfe was only six. Storm may have had a height advantage, but Cyberwulfe knew he was stronger than him. But strength didn't always win the battle. Cyberwulfe moved into a defensive stance and prepared for the alien's attack. It came.
Storm rushed at Cyberwulfe, fists glowing bright blue as he shots bursts of powerful energy at him. Cyberwulfe knocked each of the blasts away and met Storm's attack. They locked hands and started a test of strength. Cyberwulfe began charging up, his fur rippling as the flames raged around the two fighters. Storm was forced to increase his power as well, creating a similar, blue flame. The two fighters growled and gritted teeth as they struggled to push each other down.
Storm pulled one hand away and punched Cyberwulfe in the face before Cyber could block or avoid it. Cyber countered with a head butt, followed by a kick to the head, sending Storm reeling backwards a few steps. He then rushed at Storm, knocking him down with a football tackle. He stood up and waited for Storm's return attack. The bluish alien stood up, the blue flames erupting faster and fiercer now. He had a look of pure hatred on his face. Checking his scanner once more, he saw that Cyberwulfe was still fighting at a much lower power than his own. But how could he be doing so well?
Cyberwulfe smiled. He knew what Storm was thinking. Raising his fighting power in such a stupid fight would be a waste of energy, and RazorWolf had always taught him to never fight at full power, or max himself out too much. During a training session, Cyberwulfe had forced his power level to exceed his natural limits, which resulted in a serious visit to the hospital. But it might take full power to defeat Storm.
The alien wasn't impressed with Cyber's power level. Everyone he had ever fought had bowed before him. He was feared throughout the entire sector as the most vicious fighter in the galaxy. He wouldn't let himself be beaten by this wolf.
"I've defeated thousands of fighters! You can't beat me, no one can! I'll leave you and your friend dead, and take the Dragon Balls for myself!" said Storm.
He fired a massive beam of energy at Cyberwulfe, catching the warrior full-on. Cyberwulfe held his arms out, blocking the blast as much as he could, but it soon overpowered him. He was thrown backwards and slammed into the cliffside. The blast crashed him deeper and deeper into the rock, destroying half of the mountain with it. Storm stopped blasting and watched as the mountain collapsed, covering Cyberwulfe with hundreds of tons of rocks.
"Heh! That's the end of him," he chuckled. He turned towards Ozymandis. He'd kill the dragon next.
"Cyberwulfe!" cried Ozymandis, but he knew Cyberwulfe couldn't have been beaten so easily.
The ground shook, and Storm turned towards the mountain again. Several of the rocks levitated into the air. Boulders the size of houses rolled away as a massive earthquake started, the epicenter being right where he had blasted Cyberwulfe. Storm checked his scanner again.
"What?! Power level seven million! And rising! No, this can't be happening!" he screamed in disbelief.
Suddenly the rocks exploded in all directions, revealing Cyberwulfe standing at the base of the cliff. He stood with a bright blue hue around his body. Energy charged like electric arcs around his body and his hair stood up as if he were standing on a huge blow drier. His eyes glowed red. Cyberwulfe was bleeding from his chest and arms, and his khaki pants had been reduced to a torn pair of shorts, covered with rips and holes.
"Cyber! You're okay!" Ozy cried.
Cyberwulfe began walking towards Storm, the flying rocks clearing a path before his blazing silver flames. Storm, still the stronger one, stood watching. This was going to be an impressive fight indeed. Cyberwulfe had absorbed and survived his most powerful attack. But could he do it again? And again? Storm knew he could fire his attacks all day long, but Cyberwulfe could wear down with each blast. He wasn't about to let a mongrel of a wolf take his Dragon Balls away.
"You think you're pretty lucky, huh? Well this is it, big guy. It's time you saw who you were messing with!" said Storm
With a bright blue flash, Storm started to metamorph. He grew another three feet tall, and his muscles bulged out all over his body. Ozymandis watched in horror as a pair of horns grew from the alien's head, and spikes grew from his elbows and knees. Each of his arms grew sharp spines, and his armour exploded, revealing a massive muscular chest.
Cyberwulfe's scouter beeped wildly. When Storm had stopped transforming the number rested at an even twelve-million.
"Damn," was the only thing Cyberwulfe could say.
"Ha ha ha!" Storm laughed, taunting Cyberwulfe," You see! You cannot defeat me!"
"We'll see. I still have a few tricks!" Cyberwulfe countered. He'd have to attack at full power now.
Storm ran at Cyberwulfe, his massive bulk moving incredibly fast for such a large creature. He thrust his fist at Cyberwulfe, who dodged it. He kept swinging, but Cyberwulfe either dodged the attack or blocked it. Cyber may have been weaker, but most of his training revolved around speed rather than strength. Cyber swung his fist to block another punch, but was caught in the side by a lightning fast left hook from Storm. He staggered a bit, which was enough for Storm to hit him again, then finished with a powerful kick that sent Cyberwulfe flying through the air. Storm appeared behind him and kicked him once more. Cyberwulfe crashed to the ground and bounced several feet into the air, allowing Storm to come under him and deliver another devastating blow.
"Would you like me to slow down? Any time, please just ask!" Storm laughed as he landed another punch to Cyber's head. He then left the wolf on the ground, struggling to get up.
"You are too weak. Why not give up?"
"Because... I'm not done yet," Cyberwulfe managed to say. He coughed up some blood and then wiped his chin. His vision was getting fuzzy, but he shook his head, hoping to clear it up a bit. Storm looked even bigger now that he was crouching. Even at full power, Cyber couldn't beat him. But he had to. Storm wouldn't let them escape, and they needed the Dragon Balls.
"Come on, Cyber! Use your Sonic Dash!" cried Ozymandis from under the space ship.
Cyberwulfe grinned. He'd never used the Sonic Dash on anyone before, only in training. It was a lightning fast attack that allowed him to travel great distances in miliseconds, and could be devastating in battle if he rushed to hit his opponent. He grinned at Storm, who only stood there with his arms crossed.
"Sonic Dash? Sounds stupid," he scoffed," Well, lemme see what you've got!"
Cyber smiled. He knew he could do it. He almost felt sorry for Storm.
"SONIC DASH!!"
Cyberwulfe disappeared from everyone's field of vision as he rushed into supersonic speed, blazing towards Storm. The attack was designed for the fighter to move so quickly that he couldn't be tracked. But Storm was too powerful. Before Cyberwulfe could reach him, the alien was ready. He caught Cyberwulfe in mid air and grabbed his head and legs.
"Nice trick, but you've got to be faster than that!" and with those words he slammed Cyber's back onto his knee, the spike there ripping through Cyber's side. Blood gushed everywhere. Cyber yelped in pain as Storm threw him to the ground.
Cyber was in immense pain. His side was bleeding profusely. He felt as if his back was broken in three places, and he was sure his arm was broken. He had tried and been defeated. Cyber cried quiet tears, which rolled down his face and mixed in with the blood that oozed from his injuries.
"I'm so sorry Razor. I couldn't bring you back. Please forgive me," he whispered.
"What are you saying? A prayer to GOD to save your pathetic soul from hell?" laughed Storm," Now I will finish you off!" Cyber's power had dropped tremendously because of his injuries. He wasn't even able to stand.
He raised his elbow, ready to crash down with all his might and strike Cyberwulfe down with the sharp spines on his arm. Just as he was about to strike, a gray form moved past his field of vision. The next thing he knew he was flying through the air, his face stinging. When he landed, he was aware of blood running down his face. Looking, he saw Ozymandis standing between him and Cyberwulfe, his tail twitching in front of him, the sharp blade on the end of it dripping blood. His blood.
"You think you can just finish off my friend without me getting in the way? Fat chance, pal!" Ozy stated. He looked different, with bright green flames shooting around him. A quick glance at his scanner showed Storm that Ozy had increased his power level to over two-million.
"Impressive. But you are still no match for me," Storm replied.
"I won't let you get away with this!"
"As if you can do anything about it?"
Before Ozy could react, Storm rushed forward and crashed into the dragon. Ozymandis tasted blood in his mouth as he flew through the air, crashing into the ground and flipping over several times before rolling to a stop beside Cyberwulfe.
"Aww, how cute. Together again, huh? Now you can die together, with one single blast," said Storm.
"Cyber... we tried anyway. Don't feel bad," Ozy managed to say. He reached out and took Cyber's hand in his, gripping it tightly.
"I know... I know," Cyberwulfe squeezed his friend's hand," But I'm not done trying yet."
Cyberwulfe groaned and felt his back crack as he forced himself to his feet. He stood limp, barely able to stand. He began limping towards Storm, defiantly staring up at the huge alien.
"I am CYBERWULFE! I was trained by the great RazorWolf, and with the Dragon Balls I will earn from you I will wish him back to life," Cyberwulfe said, still limping towards Storm. He stopped a bare twenty feet away.
"RazorWolf, huh? Well he must be a pretty weak, pathetic son of a bitch if he trained you! I hope you do wish him back so I can kill you both and rid the galaxy of such weak sacks of shit," laughed Storm. He flexed his muscles and looked as if ready to attack once more.
"What... what did you say?!" Cyberwulfe growled.
"RazorWolf is a pathetic weakling. He probably died like a coward, huddling behind his mommy! Ha ha ha ha!"
"SHUT UUUPPPP!!!!!!" Cyberwulfe screamed with a roaring voice. He erupted in a violent explosion that sent rocks and debris flying everywhere. Storm was almost knocked backwards, but steadied himself. He looked at his scanner, which was fast approaching thirteen-million, then it suddenly exploded.
"What the heck... your power was only three million a second ago," Storm gasped in disbelief.
Cyberwulfe didn't reply. He stood staring at Storm, the power emanating from him in blue and orange waves, which rippled through the air and ran past Storm. Cyber glared through bloodied eyes, his crippled body was now a surging ball of energy, ready to be used against his enemy. He stood at his full height and approached Storm.
"I won't be beaten by you now!" screamed Storm, ignoring the radiant waves of energy.
He cried out again, and rushed at Cyberwulfe, throwing his fists at him. The first one crashed into Cyberwulfe, but did nothing. Storm blinked, how could he? He punched Cyberwulfe in the face, then in the stomach. Nothing happened. It was as if he was punching a ten-foot thick wall of titanium. Cyberwulfe reached forward and put his hand against Storm's side.
"I won't let you say such things about RazorWolf. You must be punished," his voice echoing as if he were in a small cavern. Cyberwulfe's eyes flashed white, and suddenly a beam of energy shot through Storm's side, almost blowing him in half.
Storm's eyes widened as he was penetrated, the beam cutting through his kidneys and stomach, tearing out half his ribs and blowing away pounds of skin and muscle. Storm stumbled backwards, holding the gaping hole that was now pouring blood onto the battlefield. Cyberwulfe lowered his arm and stepped back. Storm felt like he was going to lose his footing, but stood firm. He was determined not to be beaten by Cyberwulfe, even if he was stronger.
Cyberwulfe's eyes flashed once more, and his echoed voice spoke again," Sonic Dash."
This time, the Sonic Dash worked as planned. Storm lost track of Cyberwulfe before he even disappeared. The next thing he knew, his torso had been hit so fast and with such force that it ripped him in half. His upper body fell several meters away from his legs, as they toppled to the ground. Storm closed his eyes, the pain rushing through his body. His mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water as he gasped for air. Cyberwulfe now stood beside him, eyes flashing green, staring down at his opponent.
"Goodbye Storm. When you reach the next dimension, perhaps you can tell RazorWolf how well I'm doing with my training," Cyberwulfe said calmly.
"Never! Bastard!" Storm choked.
Cyberwulfe shook his head, sad that such a mighty fighter had to turn to evil. He fired a pinpoint beam of energy that penetrated Storm's skull, killing him instantly. The giant's eyes closed and his body went limp, never to move again. Cyberwulfe sighed and charged down. His eyes returned to their normal green colour, his fur fell limp against his skin, and his muscles shrank back to their normal size. The earthquake stopped, the flames disappeared. Everything was at peace.
Cyberwulfe turned to Ozymandis, who was still laying on the ground. He smiled, then toppled to the ground.
"Cyberwulfe!" cried Ozymandis.
Cyberwulfe woke up several days later, laying in his bed on board the Always. Ozy was sitting next to him, reading a book. On the table there were several books, and some tools. Cyber looked to his left and saw that he was hooked up to a machine that was pumping various healing chemicals into his body. But the best thing he saw was a pair of Dragon Balls sitting on a pillow on a small table in the corner of the room.
Ozy saw he'd awakened and where his eyes were looking.
"I thought you might like to see them when you woke up. I went to get it yesterday after I secured the ship and made sure no one else was on the planet who'd be a threat to us," Ozy said. He touched Cyberwulfe's forehead, checking to see if he was feeling hot or not.
"Well, it was certainly worth the entertainment," Cyberwulfe smiled weakly," Now we're one step closer to getting RazorWolf back."
"I know. We'd better get going as soon as you're healed up. I'd hate to run into trouble on the next planet and not have you to back me up."
"You don't need me. You did good on your own, and I can see your power level has raised a great deal."
"I used your scouter. I'm sitting at three-million now. Not bad, huh?" Ozy smiled, flexing his muscles.
"Yeah. You're getting there."
Two weeks later, Cyberwulfe and Ozymandis were on their way. The next Dragon Ball was on a planet called Balshaar, which would take them five days to reach. They had a lot of planning to do, and some training as well. But would they be ready for the challenges ahead? Only time would tell.
